The visit was aimed at introducing social services provided by Polish cities and presenting the experiences and practices of Polish cities. The cities of Opole, Ostrów Wielkopolski and Kędzierzyn-Koźle presented their experiences.
As part of the 'Continuation of Bilateral Cooperation between Polish, Norwegian and Icelandic Municipalities as an Example of Establishing Lasting Relations after Local Development Programme and Expanding Cooperation in the Preparation of the Next Financial Perspective' project, Mayor of the city of Opole, Arkadiusz Wisniewski, met with representatives of the Norwegian local governments.
The main purpose of this part of the delegation's study visit to Opole was to look at the solutions that Opole has implemented in the area of social policy, especially in the situation of the need to reduce spending or demographic challenges while maintaining high quality services. Norwegian municipalities are increasingly confronted with limited budgets and the need to cut costs. Guests were curious about how Polish local governments function with limited financial and personnel resources.
