Przemyśl Hosts EMPIRIA. Social Welfare in the Face of Disasters and Crises
Przemyśl will host a two-day workshop organised by the Association of Polish Cities as part of the EMPIRIE Experience Exchange Network.
On Thursday and Friday (20-21 February) at the Command Centre Przemyśl Fortress [pol. Centrum Dowodzenia Twierdza Przemyśl], participants from Poland and Norway will learn about the experiences of cities relating to the theme ‘Social Welfare in the Face of Disasters and Complex Crises’. On the part of the host city, the workshop will be organised by the Municipal Welfare Centre in Przemyśl and its Director, Piotr Hryniszyn.
One of the presentations and stories the participants heard was the experience of the Deputy Mayor, Bartłomiej Barszczak, during the 2022 refugee crisis in Przemyśl. The guests also had a number of detailed questions about the solutions introduced at the time to deal with the crisis. Piotr Hryniszyn, the Director of the Municipal Welfare Centre, shared his experiences from a social welfare perspective during this period.
