The “Dugnad” Co-operation Centre will house i.a. assisted living flats, daycare rooms, a canteen, kitchen facilities included, and a conference room. It will also become the seat for the Municipal Senior Citizens’ Centre and the Non-Governmental Organisations and Volunteer Work Centre.
The construction site was handed over in late July, a green light for the contractor to commence extensive and comprehensive reconstruction works. Pursuant to the contract, works will take over one year, the investment cost totalling nearly PLN 22 million.
The Co-operation Centre is the pivotal part of a development project delivered thanks to the city having joined the “Local Development” Programme, and securing concept funding.
The Norwegian DUGNAD notion was the inspiration behind Kędzierzyn-Koźle’s development strategy built around local community integration and restoring neighbourly bonds. The notion itself is expressed in generations-old customs of neighbourly support, joining community efforts, and civic activity.
