Members of the EMPIRIAE Experience Exchange Network – Entrepreneurial Cities and Towns spoke of valuable experience based on good practices in collaboration between business and education communities during the “Saint Nicholas Day” meeting held in Piła on 6 and 7 December 2023.
On day one, the debate focused on initiatives promoting entrepreneurship in the youth community. Hosts showcased the “Piła to the Start Line” programme comprising a number of events designed to foster entrepreneurship in young people’s circles. The Programme was heatedly discussed in the context of organisational rules; animating collaboration with schools, universities and business entities; and practical initiative outcomes. A separate workshop session was an opportunity to debate good practices followed by Network member cities and towns, including i.a. Nisko, Biłgoraj and Zawiercie. Network representatives then proceeded with a tour of the Signify Lighting Application Centre. The company introduced participants to state-of-the-art solutions in lighting technology.
On day two, the EMPIRIAE Experience Exchange Network – Entrepreneurial Cities and Towns representatives focused on methods of introducing young people to the business world, and developing core job market competencies. Projects involving the Piła Academy of Skills and Competencies, Creative Centre for Education and Economic Co-operation in Hrubieszów, and Hrubieszów Resident Card were discussed, the debate yet again focusing on implementation-related project aspects.
The EMPIRIAE Experience Exchange Network session was accompanied by an international conference with an energy transformation and Smart City focus, and the “Local Government Leaders of Governance 2023” Competition Finale – events organised as part of the “Local Development” Programme.
The EMPIRIAE Experience Exchange Network is a programme implemented with financial backing from the EEA and Norway Mechanisms for the years 2014-2021. The programme is intended to build relationships and trust among cities and towns participating in the “Local Development” Programme. The ultimate goal is for cities and towns to stop competing and begin collaborating in order to foster in-house competencies and skills.
