In the course of the meeting, participants were given an option to listen to experts sharing their accessibility-related knowledge tying in with public and private life. Polish AMP football player and winner of the FIFA Puskás Award for the most beautiful goal in 2022, Michał Oleksy was the event’s special guest. Attendants and speakers included Association of Polish Cities advisors Justyna Wieczorkiewicz-Molendo and Joanna Sikorska.
The introductory panel (“Public Institution Accessibility to Persons with Disabilities”) opened with an speech by Professor Aleksandra Kuzior, Ph.D. Hab., of the Silesian University of Technology, who delivered a presentation on the “Sustainable Social Development Inclusivity Model Based on the ‘City as Space for Development’ Project”. Engineer architect Beata Kucharczyk-Brus, Ph.D. Hab., Silesian University of Technology professor, then delivered a lecture on “Architectural accessibility in the ‘City as Space for Development’ Project”. Rafał Kwapuliński, expert for persons with disabilities at the FAR Foundation for Active Rehabilitation, spoke of “Public Institution Accessibility”. Krzysztof Wostal and Agnieszka Majnusz discussed “Efficient Communication with Persons with Disabilities”.
The conference closed with a crowning event: a football tournament for children with disabilities from Silesian special-care schools at the Arena Zabrze Stadium. Marcin Oleksy supervised the event.
Both events were organised as part of Zabrze’s “City as Space for Development” project financed from Norwegian Financial Mechanism funds under the “Local Development” Programme implemented by the Ministry of Development Funds and Regional Policy.
